Frequently asked questions
Who runs this?
StatsMapped is an independent project. One person builds and maintains it; day-to-day engineering and editorial work is AI-assisted.
Is this AI?
The site's engineering and copy are built with AI assistance (Claude), under direct human review. The DATA is not -- every figure on this site comes from an official government publisher (the CSO, the Central Bank of Ireland, and others -- see Sources & licensing), never generated or estimated by a model. AI chat answers (the question-and-answer feature) are built strictly from that published data too, with a standing rule to say "I don't have that" rather than guess.
Are you affiliated with the CSO, or any public body?
No. Independent; not affiliated with the CSO or any public body. StatsMapped republishes figures those bodies already publish openly, under their own open licences.
How do I check a figure?
Every dataset page states its publisher, its licence, how often it updates, and when it was last refreshed. Click through to the dataset behind any figure and the original source is linked there -- the same check this site's own evidence-verdict and comparison tools run before calling two figures comparable.
How do corrections work?
Spotted something wrong? Email [email protected] with what looks off and where you saw it. Genuine errors get fixed directly in the underlying data or its presentation. There is no public corrections log yet -- if that changes, it will be linked from here.
