Irish public data, by county
StatsMapped

Recorded crime: Weapons and explosives offences for every Irish Garda Division, ranked from highest to lowest, from official public data.

Why the caveats matter

Every figure carries the publisher's own caveats. Where a statistic is published for a wider area than the one you clicked, or where the publisher itself flags it as unreliable, the page says so rather than quietly rounding it off.

Recorded crime: Weapons and explosives offences — every Garda Division ranked

Higher figures on this page are generally worse, not the opposite.

These are raw counts, not rates -- a larger area ranks higher on this page mainly because it has more people, not necessarily a worse underlying rate.

Figures as of Q1 2026, published by CSO PxStat. Accessed 2026-09-16.

Recorded crime cannot be mapped by county: CSO publishes it by Garda Division, and divisions do not line up with county boundaries -- some cover several counties, and Cork and Dublin are each split between more than one. Click any county to see its divisional figures instead.

Before you use these figures

  • Statistics Under Reservation: CSO publishes Garda recorded crime as "Statistics Under Reservation", meaning in CSO's own words that "the quality of these statistics do not meet the standards required of official statistics published by the CSO". This follows reviews of the quality of the underlying Garda PULSE data. Treat these figures as an indication of recorded incidents, not a settled measure of crime.
  • Seasonal — compare year on year: Recorded crime is seasonal — burglary typically peaks in the darker months, public order offences in summer — so quarter-to-quarter swings of 20-40% are normal rather than notable. Only year-on-year change is flagged for these series; comparing one quarter with the previous one would mostly measure the season.
  • Short run of data: Figures for the current 21 Garda Divisions begin in 2025. The division boundaries were reorganised under the Garda Operating Model, so earlier quarters are not published on this basis and long-run comparisons are not possible yet.
  • Fraud is not published at this level: CSO lists Fraud as an offence group but publishes no figures for it at Garda Division level -- verified: 0 non-null periods for every division, while all other groups return data. It does not appear as a facet here. Its absence reflects what is published, not an absence of offences.
  • Latest figure: Q1 2026 — 2 quarters old: This dataset is published quarterly and the publisher hasn't released anything newer. Nothing is missing from this page.
