Every figure carries the publisher's own caveats. Where a statistic is published for a wider area than the one you clicked, or where the publisher itself flags it as unreliable, the page says so rather than quietly rounding it off.

Property prices (index) — every CSO region ranked

This is a price INDEX, not an average price. A value of 165 means prices are 65% above the index's base period, January 2005 (not rebased since), set to 100, not that a typical home costs €165. Ranked by index value, which reflects relative price change since the base period, not which area has cheaper or more expensive homes. Ireland's and the UK's own indices use different base periods (January 2005 for Ireland, January 2023 for the UK) — their raw index values are not directly comparable to each other, only to their own history.

Colour shows the 12-month change in CSO's house price index for the region each area belongs to. Areas in the same CSO region share a colour, because that is the level the index is published at.

  • Excludes South Tipperary: CSO's South-East region for this series excludes South Tipperary, which differs from the standard NUTS3 South-East region. Tipperary is counted under Mid-West instead.
