UK public data, by local authority district
StatsMapped

Housing, jobs, schools, roads, procurement and population for every local authority district in the United Kingdom — nine dataset families from seven official publishers, each with the publisher's own caveats attached. Click a district for its figures.

Why the caveats matter

Every figure carries the publisher's own caveats. Where a statistic is published for a wider area than the one you clicked, or where the publisher itself flags it as unreliable, the page says so rather than quietly rounding it off.

The UK's four nations publish separately, so some figures stop at a border: house sale prices cover England and Wales, road collisions Great Britain. Pupil absence is published for England, but not every English district individually — some are reported only as part of their wider county. An area with fewer datasets isn't missing data — either its nation publishes that statistic through a different body, or (pupil absence only) its own district isn't reported separately.

Council single-bid tender rate — every local authority district ranked

This page ranks 5 of 361 areas at this level -- the rest have no published figure for this dataset (see the coverage notes above for why, where one applies).

Figures as of 2026, published by UK Find a Tender Service — OCDS award notices. Accessed 2026-09-06.

Colour shows the share of each council's awarded tenders (with a recorded bid count) that had only one bid -- no competing offer. A small number of awards can make a small authority's rate swing sharply; see each area's own figure for its underlying award count before comparing it to a larger authority's.

Two or more areas with the same figure share a rank -- the next rank is skipped (e.g. two areas tied for 1st means the next entry is ranked 3rd, not 2nd).

Before you use these figures

  • Not every award has a recorded bid count: Some council-attributed awards have no bid-count value published at all. This rate is calculated only over awards where a bid count WAS published -- those with no bid count recorded are excluded from both the count of single-bid awards and the total they're measured against, not silently treated as having had more than one bid.
