UK public data, by local authority district
StatsMapped

Housing, jobs, schools, roads, procurement and population for every local authority district in the United Kingdom — nine dataset families from seven official publishers, each with the publisher's own caveats attached. Click a district for its figures.

Why the caveats matter

Every figure carries the publisher's own caveats. Where a statistic is published for a wider area than the one you clicked, or where the publisher itself flags it as unreliable, the page says so rather than quietly rounding it off.

The UK's four nations publish separately, so some figures stop at a border: house sale prices cover England and Wales, road collisions Great Britain. Pupil absence is published for England, but not every English district individually — some are reported only as part of their wider county. An area with fewer datasets isn't missing data — either its nation publishes that statistic through a different body, or (pupil absence only) its own district isn't reported separately.

Council contract award value — every local authority district ranked

This page ranks 18 of 361 areas at this level -- the rest have no published figure for this dataset (see the coverage notes above for why, where one applies).

Figures as of 2026 for most areas (2024 for areas whose publisher had not yet released newer figures), published by UK Find a Tender Service — OCDS award notices. Accessed 2026-09-06.

The sum of the awarded value of every contract a local authority's own tendering process awarded in a year, as published via Find a Tender and Contracts Finder. It counts CONTRACTS AWARDED, not overall council spending.

Before you use these figures

  • Winning bid only — no data on who competed: Find a Tender and Contracts Finder give an aggregate count of bids received but never identify a losing bidder anywhere in the published data. This shows the WINNING bid only, not a record of who competed.
  • Council procurement, not all public spending: Figures cover only the local authority's own direct procurement published via these two award-notice sources. Central government, NHS trusts, universities and other public bodies also spend within every area but procure nationally or regionally, with no single-authority figure to attribute -- their contracts are excluded rather than guessed at.
  • Latest figure 2024: This series is annual; the most recent published figure is 2024, 2 years before 2026. That may reflect the publisher's release schedule rather than missing data.
